Arboricultural Assessment

An assessment is the first step to the preparation of a detailed management plan which can allow new development or public use in the vicinity of a much-valued tree.

A thorough survey of trees on a potential development site, coupled with sensitive design and the adoption of protection measures drawn up in accordance with BS5837 Trees in relation to construction, can provide the information needed to allow the granting of planning permission.

Whether carried out in advance, or required as part of a set of planning conditions, RML believes that Arboricultural Assessments are essential if our limited heritage of mature trees is to be conserved without unnecessary restriction on development.

RML provide a broad range of arboricultural services:

  • Tree surveys to identify and map trees on site
  • Tree Condition Assessments and Amenity evaluation
  • Arboricultural implications assessment (AIA) and constraints plans
  • Advice on Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) and trees in Conservation Areas
  • Arboricultural method statements (AMS)
  • Advice on demolition and construction work in proximity to existing trees or tree protection zones
  • Watching briefs during construction
  • Advice on management of woodlands, specimen and veteran trees
  • Advice on trees related to subsidence
