Archaeological Services

Our landscape is rich in archaeological evidence of previous generations. Whether it is the buried fragments of former settlements, the larger remains of industrial activities, or the subtle patterns of human activity that shape the landscape, few sites can be written off without some form of assessment.

RML is experienced in carrying out Archaeological surveys and services at all stages of a project:

  • Advice at the feasibility stage
  • Desk top assessments
  • Reports for the use in Environmental Impact Statements
  • Design and mitigation strategies
  • Watching briefs
  • Management of full investigations
  • Finds analysis
  • Conservation

RML carries out archaeological assessments as part of a formal EIA or a supporting statement for planning applications. We conduct or manage fieldwork involving large teams of archaeological staff, and prepare the resulting interpretive reports. With suitable advance investigation, we are often able to recommend strategies to mitigate the effect of development, so that projects can proceed with minimum delay or additional cost.
