Contaminated Land Investigation

When re-using derelict sites, it is a requirement to ensure that all risks associated with potential land contamination have been investigated.

RML uses its extensive experience in the development of Brownfield land to provide integrated and cost-effective solutions for the redevelopment and re-use of sites. We overcome a diverse range of site constraints and project requirements.

Our contaminated land services include:

  • Desk study and preliminary site inspections.
  • Preliminary risk assessments.
  • Contamination, hydrogeological and geotechnical investigations.
  • Qualitative and quantitative risk assessments.
  • Remediation strategy reviews.
  • Design and implementation of remediation treatments.
  • Works supervision, monitoring and validation.

RMLs experience includes the completion of investigations on various sites such as:

  • Former gasworks;
  • Operational and closed waste disposal sites;
  • Former mining sites and tailings ponds;
  • Former fertiliser plants;
  • Petroleum storage sites;
  • Dockyards;
  • Chemical industries;
  • Timber treatment facilities;
  • Scrap yards and fragmentation plants

Our work meets the requirements of British Standard BS 10175, The code of practice for investigation of potentially contaminated sites.
