Habitat Creation and Management

Simple actions such as the introduction of species, provision of nest sites or removal of dominant plants can make a real difference.

RML undertakes habitat creation, management and restoration projects, and provides services as a part of larger schemes.

RML provides assessments and management for the following habitats:

  • Coastal (mudflats, estuary, rocky pools or saline shores),
  • Woodland
  • Heathland
  • Parkland
  • River catchments
  • Canals, Ponds and Lakes
  • Agri environmental schemes (e.g. Tir Gofal, Countryside Stewardship)
  • Assessment of land potential for biomass crops.

RMLs project experience includes habitat restoration on a wide range of difficult land, such as:

  • Aquatic and river margin habitats
  • Derelict industrial land
  • Contaminated land
  • Regraded quarries and filled mineral workings
  • Abandoned mineral workings and spoil heaps

Our specialist ecological staff will provide Site Supervision and hands-on training services, or will act as Environmental Clerks of Works on larger contracts.
