Slope Stabilisation

RML and its contracting arm RML Bioengineering Ltd design and construct live willow support systems. These systems are introduced when the feasiblity of conventional sheet piled or gabion walls are ruled out.

RML have long established expertise in bio-engineering and were responsible for the CIRIA report on "The Use of Vegetation in Civil Engineering".

The benefits of a live willow support system over a conventional heavy engineering solution are:

  • No heavy plant needed so difficult access is not a problem.
  • A green solution, ideal for environmentally sensitive areas
  • A soft solution, designed to blend in with the surrounding environment
  • Rapid installation
  • Economical
  • Varying length management programmes available
